Moab Day II

Up at 4:30am to drive to Mesa Arch, the famous “rock bridge” that the sun rises through and turns the underbelly of the rock a brilliant vibrant red. I’ve seen pictures taken of the location before and thought that the photographer jacked up the actual colors… haven been there this morning, I can tell you the red is real. It’s absolutely amazing to see and witness a new day bursting through the arch.

Looking through the arch yields more incredible opportunities to shoot. With the hazy light separating the various mesas in the distance I snapped a bunch of photos that highlight the compression of the 70-200mm lens. Makes for a really nice photograph. Can’t wait to get home and print this for the Gallery wall.

  1. Moab Plein Air Festival has concluded this October. This particular camera shot reminds me of the monochrome division of the painters. Creative eyes seeing canyonlands similarly.
Do you know about Moab’s May PhotoSymposium?
