Meet Mason & Charlie (the flying dogs!)

Meet Mason and Charlie two dogs that literally defy gravity. Their stories are both heartbreaking, and heartwarming. Both were rescue dogs… Mason, a mixed breed, was “bait” for fighting dogs as a puppy (he still wears a scar on his forehead of those times) and Charlie, the aussie border collie lost his tail. Sarah, their owner rescued them and turned them into incredible leaping hounds who compete in frisbee fetching contests. To watch them soar, will take your breath away- these canines show determination, intelligence, and pure heart when the frisbee leaves Sarah’s hand. Very rarely am I blown away, but this impromptou display at a family party left me clapping, smiling, and teary-eyed at their incredible effort, and history… these two pups just stole my heart.

Enjoy!

One quick thing I learned during this shoot… forget trying to track these guys- way to fast to keep a zoomed lens on them. Had to change from Dynamic 21 point to Dynamic 51 point with 3D tracking, that way the camera did the heavy lifting in terms of the autofocus- and believe me, it was working overtime!

Unleash da’ Hound…

So the latest addition to our family has indeed earned her nickname “Silly Lilly”…

She scoots, sprints, careens, crashes and simply runs through the house… leaving a wake of mischief behind her :).

Grabbed my camera to catch her antics for posterity. Enjoy!

Meet Lilly!

So after many months of silence, we once again have the sounds of paws on tile and carpet, puppy kisses and a pink belly to rub. For to long Tristan has remarked, “Dad, our house really needs a dog!”

And today, after a lengthy journey to Virginia, Lilly “Zsa-Zsa” Rowland has arrived. She’s a Vizla, and she’s just stolen our hearts. She spent most of the ride nestled between the boys in a blankie, or sitting on Tristan’s lap watching the States we drove through pass on by. When she sits, she has this regal manner about her, and her tennis ball pounce will seriously bring a tear to your eye because you belly laugh so hard. She is such a welcome addition to our home…

These are just a few first shots of her when she entered her new house, she sniffed, checked everything out, gave us a tail wag and then chewed on her bed for awhile. All in a days work for this gurl-dogga 🙂

Ruby – Doo!

or Rub-a-lina… or Ruby-Star!

Meet Ruby, my sister’s golden-doodle dog. She has quite the mouth, and rarely lets you forget she’s by your side. She’ll actually have a full-blown conversation with you, if you let her. 🙂

Meet Chloe

We have a visitor in our house for the next few days. And its great to hear the pitter-patter of little paws running on the tile and carpet. This is Chloe an energetic toy-poodle, who dishes out kisses by the dozens… while jumping on your lap and lifting her paw to your chin. The boys don’t want to go to school, rather, they’d like to hang out and pet, chase, play, roll-on-the-floor and giggle along with this bundle of energy and sweetness.

Woof-Woof!

Meet Gus… and Happy New Year!

Meet Gus. He was one heck of a pup that happened to walk into the middle of our workshop and instantly had 30 very expensive lenses pointed in his direction. Didn’t seem to bug or bother him a bit. Went on wagging his tail, and licking everything in site. Couldn’t help put open the lens to 2.8 point it down and snap some frames. Best thing… no model release :-).

Funny thing, Joe McNally ended up snapping some pics of him as well as part of his lighting demo. Says a lot about the type of guy Joe is, he saw Gus, immediately went into lighting mode and I am sure ended up with National Geographic quality pics. Left me wondering if this pooch understood that his portrait had just been taken by one of the best photogs out there today, or if the owner for that matter, realized that I a doggie-portrait session with Joe would run in the low 5 figures! Again, just shows what type of guy he is.

On a personal note, I wanted to wish you and your family a very Happy New Year. I hope 2010 is full of love, laughter and joy… and that all your images are perfectly exposed 😉

Enjoy Gus!
